Knitting projects wrapped up in 2015 (most but not all)

High annoyances in garter stitch

So the little valley beside the perpendicular garter ridge in the bottom picture annoys me. I don't know how to make the transition less noticeable. The back is even uglier with stretched stitches. Arg! After four hours, I'm still trying to find the best technique.
